Every person to ever visit Melbourne will have much love for the Yarra River. The brown looking river flows through the Centre of the CBD through the ever hip and trendy Southbank. However, a little further upstream, the Yarra River shines its beauty in a whole different light.
Located in the chocolate box village of Warrandyte, Pound Bend Reserve is a free to park, free to enter national wonderland.
Home to some of Australia’s most famous wildlife including Kangaroos, Koalas, kookubururs and platypus. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled as you never know who you might bump into.
Although fires are not permitted in the Reserve, there is ample free parking, picnic tables and toilets.
The paths are suitable for prams however, they are not paved so may become muddy on a wet day.
There are also platforms to enter the river for un-motorized boats and rafts or swimming during the summer months.
