Point Cook Homestead – Ghost Tour …

In Melbourne whenever we hear Point Cook, we automatically think about new housing developments and the RAAF base. However, there was a time when aircraft and building sites were yet to exist. A time when Ned Kelly and the Bush Rangers were still very much at large. Victoria Discovers took a trip back in time to the 1800s with Lantern Ghost Tours, to visit Point Cook Homestead and its residents…

In a dark dark town, down a dark dark lane, stood a dark dark Homestead with a tour guide waiting for the brave to appear. As soon as the tour started the gates behind us were locked, leaving no entry for any late comers or to put it another way, leaving no exit for any of the fearful.

We were introduced to the Chirnside Family who were once the proud owners of the now deserted and desolate property. The tour consisted of being guided through both the house and the grounds in the darkness of the night. Were our minds playing tricks on us or was there really a darkness looming amongst the shadows?

Feel the chill of the old stable were some of the great Melbourne cup winners of old where housed. Though the stench of betrayal can still be felt even to this very day. If the walls could talk, what story would they tell?????

Whether you are interested in finding out more about local history, or if you are hoping to see a Chirnside family member still looming around the property, Point Cook Homestead is a great night out to explore unanswerable questions as well as search for souls unable to find peace…
