Victoria Discovers is always on the look out for good value hearty family restaurants throughout the whole of Victoria. Venturing over to Mount Martha on the Mornington Peninsula, we arrived at the Dava Hotel to check out how family friendly it actually was…
As soon as we drove into the large free car park, we couldn’t help but notice the enormous enclosed outdoor children’s play area.
To gain entry we walked past an outdoor dining area which looked like, in the right conditions, it would be a relaxing, peaceful sun trap. Unfortunately on the day that Victoria Discovers visited, it was one of the coldest days of the year. Therefore we found joyful relief from the cold southerly winds by the welcoming fire located the intimate cafe.
As tempting as it was to order a hot chocolate and snuggle up in front of the fire with a good book, some of the younger representatives of Victoria Discovers led the way to the children’s play area so the older members had to follow suit.
Separated from the bistro by large glass windows, the children are able to amuse themselves in their own space without disturbing other customers, while still under the watchful eye, in perfect view of the adults responsible for them.
Within the indoor play area was an unlocked door which lead out the the large outdoor fully enclosed play area that had impressed us upon our arrival.
Good well priced menus were available from either the cafe or the bistro, both of which allowed dining near the children’s play area. Though be warned the smell of the freshly cooked carvery can be very tempting.
Food portions were generous and well priced (Chicken burger shown above was priced at $22). Midweek, outside of school holidays, a bistro main meal also come with a free children’s meal.
Unfortunately Victoria Discovers this time didn’t leave enough room to sample any of the freshly made deserts. However, we only only presume that the vast selection taste as delicious as they look.
Victoria Discovers is delighted to recomend The Dava Hotel as a well priced, good hearty food, family restaurant on the Mornington Peninsula. Though we will be sending a representative back in the warmer months to check out the fully stocked bar and sea view deck. We will keep you posted upon our findings. To be continued….
