Fort Nepean

Victoria Discovers headed down to the very end of the Mornington Peninsula to check out where the first shot of WW1 was fired, where the bay meets the bass straight and where the scenery will take your breath away.

After completing the 2.8km walking journey from Gunners Cottage Car Park, we arrived at the very end of the Peninsula.

We checked out the cannons that fired the first shot of WW1 and the first Australian shot of WW2.

There are buildings and tunnels to explore and discover

Though no man made design would ever be able to upstage mother nature.

This incredible insight into Victoria’s past is all free to explore and is a bucket list must for every local and visitor to Victoria.
