Koala Walk – Raymond Island

Koala Island Foundation – Raymond Island Australia

Victoria Discovers ventured over to Raymond Island, which can only be described as a Koala lovers dream come true. The Victoria Discovers team managed to ‘spot’ 33 different Koalas during the 1.5km designated walk…

The only way to access Raymond Island is by boat. Victoria Discovers took the 5 minute ferry ride from Paynesville which is free to foot passengers.

Once we arrived at the island, we were immediately greeted by a little Koala in a tree right at the ships harbour. So remember, keep your eyes open and look up at all times (though please be mindful of traffic)

Our younger representative made great use of the playpark and picnic tables (toilets also available) about a 30 second walk from the ferry.

The famous 1.5km return “Koala walk” starts at the playground and is clearly signposted with signs and rocks to keep you on the right path.

Make sure to purchase a $2 booklet with amazing facts and information about the Koalas of Raymond Island.

Victoria Discovers top tip is to try and look in as many trees as possible as you never know if a Koala (and a joey) maybe sat in one.
